Wikipedia notability, honestly assessed: when an article is realistic
A Wikipedia article is realistic when several independent editorial sources report over an extended period and demonstrable works, roles, or impact can be shown. Without that, the attempt usually ends in a publicly visible deletion discussion. That's why an honest notability check always comes before writing the article.
What notability means on Wikipedia
Notable isn't whoever is successful, but whoever has demonstrably received public attention - documented by independent, verifiable sources that address the person or organization directly.
Self-presentation, press releases, on-request interviews, and paid placements count for little to nothing.
Typical reasons for deletion
- Sources are mostly the subject's own website or PR channels
- Promotional language instead of neutral presentation
- No sustained coverage, just a single mention
- Conflict of interest not disclosed
- The article was created by an account that has written only this one article
Do you need Wikipedia for a panel?
No. Plenty of panels exist without a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia is a strong amplifier because it's heavily cited and machine-readably structured - but it's one source among several.
The sensible order is therefore: entity foundation and panel first, then - once notability has genuinely developed - the article. Not the other way around.
When we say yes
When at least several independent editorial sources have reported over an extended period, when demonstrable works, roles, or impact exist, and when the article can be written neutrally without ending up as promotional copy.
In every other case, we recommend building up the source base first - and provide a concrete roadmap for that, rather than submitting a hopeless article.
